Workshop

Lace from Beveren

Teacher: Simone Coppieters

This workshop will teach you a little history about the making of patterns, the difference between Beveren lace and lace from Rijsel, two types of Beveren lace, destination and use of Beveren lace, the different names for the motifs and lots of technique, such as ground, roseground in tule, joint with selvedge, edge and closed parts, discarding the gimp in tule and in closed parts.

Basic knowledge of lace making is required; knowledge of the tule stitch is not really essential but a big help; knowledge of colour code and reading technical drawings is necessary.
