Contest: Dreams in dimensions (25 x 25 x 25)

Theme: Dreams in dimensions

Rules of contest:

·    The contest is international and open to all lace makers except for members of the jury and members Brugge 2018 vzw

·    The lace must be designed and crafted by the participant.

·    The lace may not have been exhibited in any other contest or exhibition.

·    Bobbin, needle, Lier or mixed laces, traditional or contemporary, white or coloured laces are authorized. Cotton, linen, silks or any other threads may be used.

·    Each contestant may only present one piece.

·   The lace is divided into the following categories: traditional, contemporary, youth - 12 years, youth 13-18 years.

·    The size of the work, three-dimensional, may not exceed 25 X 25 X 25 cm.

·    The contestant authorizes Brugge 2018 vzw to take photographs and grants rights to Brugge 2018 vzw for integration into its files and possible publications.

·    Laces will be judged by an impartial jury composed of experts in the sectors of art and lace which will judge works according to their originality and their aesthetic merit. In each category one lace will be retained. The decision of the jury will be irrevocable.

·    The prizes of the jury will be rewarded with a prize of 250 euros per category.

·    The award ceremony will take place at the Belfry, (de Stadshallen) Grote Markt 8000 Brugge) on Friday August 17, 2018 at 18 h.

·    Any registration arriving beyond this date will not be taken into account.

·    All laces must reach the Brugge vzw before April 2018, 15th to be validated.

The participants will receive an acknowledgement of receipt for their work.

·    All shipping expenses will be paid by the participant.

·    The charges are not refundable, even if the lace is not accepted for the contest.

·    The participants must make sure that the lace is well packed for transport.

·    An envelope with the title of the work written clearly on the outside, must be joined and shall contain:

o  a coloured photograph for identification. On the back of this photograph must be clearly stated your surname, name, date of birth and nationality. Also address, telephone number and eventually e-mail address.

o  a short description of your work (title (the same as on the envelope), materials and execution techniques used).

o  further details of display (example: top and bottom).

·    The laces may be retrieved upon presentation of an identity card and a photograph identical to the one used for the work identification, on Sunday,  August 2018, 19th  between 2pm and 3pm, at the Belfry (the Hallen), Grote Markt , 8000 Brugge.

·    Lace work that has not been reclaimed by the end of the exhibition will be returned at the expense of the participant.
